How to Adjust the Upper and Lower Position of Motorized Roller and Solar Shades

Welcome to the Somfy how-to video series. Today I’m going to show you a few simple steps you can use to adjust the default upper and/or lower positions for your motorized roller shades.

Remember if this shade is operated as part of a group, unplug the other shades in the group before beginning.

To start, get the remote that operates the shade. We’ll adjust the upper position first, and then adjust the lower position as needed.

Press up and release. Allow the shade to reach its pre-set upper position. Once the shade stops, press and hold up and down simultaneously until the shade jogs, which is a brief up and down movement of the shade.

To prevent damage to the shade while in this adjustment mode, the shade will only move while up or down is being pressed. Adjust your upper position by pressing and holding up or down until the shade moves to your new desired position.

When adjusting shades with ephsia or cassette housing like we have here, be careful not to raise the shade too far. Press and hold “my” until the shade jogs. The new upper position is now set.

Now we’ll repeat these basic steps to adjust the lower position. Press down and release. Allow the shade to reach its lower position. Press up and down simultaneously until the shade jogs.

Here again, the shade will only move while up or down is being pressed. Adjust your lower position by pressing and holding up or down until the shade moves to your new desired lower position. Press and hold “my” until the shade jogs. The new lower position is now set.

If the shade cannot reach your desired lowered position, contact your window covering retailer.

That’s all it takes to adjust your roller or solar shade! Thank you for watching and feel free to check out other videos in the Somfy how to series.
