myLink Troubleshooting: Firmware Update Best Practices

Welcome to the Somfy support series, where we answer some of your common questions regarding our products.

This post will go over the myLink app firmware update. We’ve noticed that some of you have experienced an issue where the update won’t start or starts but won’t finish. We'll show you some quick techniques to help get you through the process.

As a reminder, you have to be local to your myLink to do the update. You can’t be on vacation on the beach, get an alert that you have an update, hit it and think it’s going to work, because it’s not going to work. You need to be in the office or the home where the myLink is to successfully run the update.

If you have the first edition of the myLink, still try this process. If it doesn’t work then you’re going to need a little assistance from our technical services department. Give them a call at (800) 227-6639 and they’ll help walk you through it.

Let’s get started.

When you get the update alert, go into the myLink app and go into the update section. Then run the update. This process is the same on iPhone and Android devices.

After you hit to run the update, your myLink light will change from green to orange. This will give you the indication that you’re now in a connected mode so that myLink can receive the update.

If you're myLink goes from a green to an orange light, go ahead and hit yes.

Now, this process is going to take a couple of minutes. It could take several minutes depending on the speed of your Internet. Don't get impatient and back out or “x” out of it, just let it run.

Once the myLink wizard gets to 100%, your myLink light will turn from orange back to green.

If it did, hit yes. If your myLink light didn't change, hit no and let the wizard take you back through the steps.

If you only have one myLink in the office or the home, you'll be taken back to your remote screen. If you have additional myLinks, you'll be asked if you want to update those additional myLinks. If you do, hit yes and you'll see a list of your myLinks. Go through each one individually and follow the same process that we just did.

If none of this worked for you, you’re probably going to have to get closer to your router and then just rerun the wizard.
